Jessica combines sculptures inspired by organic forms such as roots, calabashes, and seeds with body-activated interactive technologies to explore identity, autonomy, societal relationships, and ecological hierarchy. Their practice plays with the dichotomies created by combining ancient and contemporary technologies, exploring how the natural and synthetic facilitate narrative and participation. The connection between the body and artwork and the inherent power of the individual to disrupt electrical circuitry changes the relationship between artefact and audience, prompting questions about power and our place within it.
